Dennis Travel Guide: Reviews, photos, & videos
Often referred to as the “Cultural Center of Cape Cod,” the lovely little town of Dennis is the perfect combination of “historic New England” with the necessary modern amenities of the present day. And with the Cape Cod Museum of Art, the Cape Playhouse and a veritable overflow of arts and crafts galleries, Dennis seems to be taking its aforementioned nickname rather seriously. Located in Barnstable County, Dennis is an ideal vacation spot for those seeking gorgeous beaches, pristine historic buildings, and a relaxing ambiance that permeates every facet of life in this Cape Cod town. Want a few hints on what to do when enjoy Dennis? Well first, a wholly unique town like Dennis requires some unique lodging. And with plenty of Dennis vacation rentals (or maybe even a Dennis beach house), one should never have to stay in any predictably dull hotel chains that don’t do this coastal haven justice.
After that’s taken care of, it’s time to hit the beach, and with a bountiful bevy of Dennis public beaches, there are almost too many options. Check out the pristine Mayflower beach on Cape Cod Bay or head over to the Southside beaches located on the lovely Nantucket Sound for some fun in the sun. After some mandatory beach time, grab a bike and explore the scenic Dennis real estate while cruising through the Cape Cod Rail Trail – a 22 mile bike trail that winds through a seemingly ancient railroad bed through several of the smaller Cape Cod towns. Any golf fans out there? With such a gorgeous landscape, it’d practically be a sin not to grab the clubs and hit up Dennis Pines or Dennis Highlands for a nice 18 holes. And, not to forget it’s branding as the “Cultural Center of Cape Cod,” a trip to Dennis without seeing some sort artistic endeavor - whether it be some of the breathtaking works at the Cape Cod Museum of Art or a great piece of theater at the Cape Playhouse – just doesn’t seem complete.
