Falmouth Travel Guide: Reviews, photos, & videos

Although it’s tough for me to talk about the lovely little town of Falmouth without making a joke about it sounding like “foul mouth,” I’m going to try. Located in the Southwest corner of Cape Cod, Falmouth is your quintessential Cape Cod paradise. Replete with gorgeous beaches and scenic lighthouses, Falmouth is actually the second largest town in Cape Cod with a population just above 32,000 and is home to several smaller villages including Woods Hole, Hatchville, Silver Beach, Teaticket and Waquoit. With so many smaller villages, the literal treasure trove of Falmouth real estate provides visitors with innumerable options to find the perfect vacation rental in Falmouth. Whether it’s a quaint vacation home in Hatchville or a massive beach house in Silver Beach, the amount of options in Falmouth are numerous.

Speaking of options, the scientific scholar in all of us should immediately check out the quaint seaside village of Woods Hole. Home to a thriving scientific community, Woods Hole is home to the Marine Biological Laboratory, the Children’s School of Science Inc., the Sea Education Association, the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institutions (known for discovering the remains of the Titanic) and the Woods Hole Science Aquarium (where it’s actually encouraged to touch the fish!). For those interested in baseball, make sure to catch the Falmouth Commodores in action on the baseball diamond as part of the world famous Cape Cod Baseball League (which only happens in the summer). And the wine connoisseur will be happy to know that the Cape Cod Winery – located in East Falmouth – offers tours and tastings throughout July and August in addition to producing 2,500 cases of delicious spirits a year. Just don’t drink too much; it might make you have a “foul mouth!” I knew I couldn’t do it.
