Chatham Travel Guide: Reviews, photos, & videos

Is there anything better than a Chatham sunset? Well, a Chatham sunrise comes pretty close (minus the whole waking up early part). But seriously, it doesn’t get much better than watching that distant amber ball of fire gently settling below the ocean kissed horizon of one of Cape Cod’s most glorious little towns. Located in Barnstable County, Massachusetts in what’s known as the “elbow” of Cape Cod, Chatham is one of Cape Cod’s top vacation spots thanks to its scenic beaches and harbors as well as a quaint and friendly village with plenty of local flavor (shops, restaurants etc.) to keep one entertained for days. Recognized in 2007 by the National Trust for Historic Preservation as one of America’s Dozen Distinctive Destinations, Chatham is an ideal spot for the worn and weary of the world to receive a much required bit of respite, rest and relaxation.

And with plenty of Chatham vacation rentals and some gorgeous beach properties in Chatham, there are innumerable ways for one to enjoy this pristine coastal haven. Check out the beautiful Cape Cod National Seashore – which provides a barrier between the awe-inspiring Atlantic and the mainland – and fill in those tan lines while swimming in the warm waters. Or take an inspiring day trip over to Monomoy Island. Ideal for the nature buff, this 7 mile long island that lies just at the southern of the corner of Chatham is home to the Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge which provides a safe haven for several species of migratory birds such as the Piping Plover and the Roseate Tern. And for those who prefer scooping for celebrities instead of birds, visit Chatham during the summer time for potential glimpses at movie star and pirate Johnny Depp, country crooner Harry Connick Jr. and current teen sensation The Jonas Brothers. With such huge stars owning Chatham real estate, doesn’t it seem like a good idea to do some investigation into the vast amount of Chatham vacation properties? And don’t forget about those sunsets!
