Punta Cana Travel Guide: Reviews, photos, & videos
"Golf. Beach. Repeat." If Punta Cana were a bottle of shampoo, that might be the directions posted on the back. However, Punta Cana is not a bottle of shampoo and there’s so much more than golf and beaches to discover and experience in this Dominican paradise. Located in the easternmost province of the Dominican Republic, Punta Cana is a bustling port town with a population just north of one hundred thousand and is often considered one of the most popular tourist destinations in the DR. Bordering the Atlantic Ocean, Punta Cana is home to a 30 mile stretch of picture perfect white sand beach, a never ending queue of swaying palms, and an atmosphere that's perfect for friends in need of a party, families in search of paradise, or lovers looking for a little privacy. The azure blue skies, non-stop sunshine and perfect, balmy weather (in every season!) don't hurt either.
And for those interested in a pristine piece of property, the Punta Espada currently has a number of wonderful slices of land perfect for that new vacation home. The newly constructed Punta Cana Village – featuring some quaint local restaurants and shops – is also a refreshing escape from the resorts (but make sure to get a rental car). There’s also Manatí Park (a water park that puts Sea World to shame), Plaza Bolera Punta Cana (a bowling alley and shopping center), but for those seeking a party zone Punta Cana is more for those seeking a quieter and more private vacation; however, head over to the nearby Bavaro for a night life and club scene that’ll give new meaning to the term “dance all night.”
