Casablanca Travel Guide: Reviews, photos, & videos
The setting of the classic 1942 Humphrey Bogart film that goes by the same name, the great city of Casablanca is a thriving commercial and industrial metropolis with a bevy of historical sites, booming nightlife and enough unique attractions perfect for the traveler in search of something off the beaten path. Morocco’s largest city with a population nearing four million, Casablanca’s architecture and overall ambiance reflects a French influence which makes sense considering the town was designed by famed French architect Henri Prost (many young Moroccans also speak French exclusively). Home to the world’s largest artificial port, Casablanca is also considered the most progressive and liberal city in all of Morocco thanks to its young population growing industry sector.
Make sure to check out the diverse Casablanca real estate scene by looking into the various Casablanca vacation rentals especially along the chic, beach front neighborhood of Aïn Diab. Speaking of beaches, the aforementioned Aïn Diab is easily reached from the center of the city. Emanating a posh urban vibe, this beach front paradise is lined with cafes and clubs along its sprawling boulevard where young trendsetters enjoy the scenery and gorgeous blue waters. For those wanting to scope out the various historical monuments, visit the King Hassan II Mosque – the largest in Morocco – which features the world’s tallest minaret. To experience the festive Casablanca nightlife, head to the Boulevard de la Corniche located on the edge of the Anfa suburb. In the summer months especially, the dance clubs pack out with well-dressed youngsters eager to dance and let off steam to the sounds of live bands or thumping club music. Want to go see the film set where "Casablanca" took place? Head over to Rick’s Café – an exact replica of the bar Bogart and Bergman rekindled their love in the classic film.
