Denver Travel Guide: Reviews, photos, & videos
Often times referred to as the “Mile-High City,” Denver truly does have an altitude of 5,280 feet which is measured and marked – for posterity sake – by a gold band embedded in the steps of the state capitol. With a population of just under 580,000 and 3 million in the great metro area, Colorado’s capital city is a fast paced but laid back, business savvy yet culture friendly town replete with quirky neighborhoods, a fast growing economy and a thriving arts scene all set against the stunning backdrop of the gorgeous Rocky Mountains. With unlimited access to the mountains for the ski and snowboard enthusiasts and absolutely gorgeous summer weather (perfect for hiking and bike riding), Denver truly is a city with something for everyone. And with such pristine real estate in Denver, there are always available deals on Denver mountain homes or various other types of vacation properties in Denver.
Within the downtown Denver area there’s plenty of fun times to be found! The Denver Museum of Nature and Science, the Denver Zoo and the Chamberlin Observatory (built in 1890) are all fascinating attractions perfect for the science or history buff, and the nearby Children’s Museum of Denver is perfect for giving the kiddos something fun and educational to enjoy. For those wanting to embrace the stunning Denver scenery, head over to Washington Park which features gorgeous lakes, flower gardens as well as a recreation center, soccer fields and tennis court all on 160 acres of pristine land surrounded by stunning 19th century houses. And for the sports fans, Denver is home to four major sports teams: the Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies, Denver Nuggets, and the Colorado Avalanche. Clearly Denver has everything anyone could ever want in a capital town, and thankfully it still remains fairly laid back. In other words, it might be known as the “mile high city,” but Denver is still “down to earth.”
